Other Indonesian Locations

In addition to the primary “Big Island” destinations in Indonesia are well over 17,000 other officially listed islands. Depending on the last eruption, a new one can literally pop up at any time. More well-known islands in the “Other” category include the Spice Islands (Moluccas/Maluku Islands), Natuna Islands, Derawan Islands, Timor, Gili Islands off Lombok, and Nusa Penida off Bali. Travel to these more “off the beaten track” locations can be exceptionally rewarding though require use of smaller aircraft, rotary aircraft, and or boat travel and other logistical requirements.
